Where the Laundry is folded.

The chore I dislike the most is all of them, primarily doing the dishes, but laundry is slowly creeping up the dislike list. When I was in High School, still living with my dad, my sister and I would rotate our chore schedule weekly. One week I would take on the laundry, while she would wash the dishes, we would then flip. The only reason I hated washing dishes is because our lack of dishwasher, and the laundry was so much easier because you could take a break between loads.

Now days when I am the only person taking care washing, drying, and folding, five other people’s laundry, including my own, it is not as enjoyable as it used to be. The hardest part of doing the laundry is the folding and putting away of the clothes. When I do not complete those last two tasks, it is a scavenger hunt for the entire family. A hunt for matching socks, pants, shirts, etc. Probably the one type of hunting my husband does not like.

To try to make myself more productive with the laundry I try to think of the best place to fold it, where it will then be put away the quickest. The laundry folding has started in the laundry room with piles on top of the washing appliances, then to the dining room table also with piles which would be set off to the side as a meal approached, then to the couch in the living room where the kids would treat all folded clothes as though they were diving into a pool in the summer time.

Now I have found that my most efficient laundry folding area is my bedroom floor. It is a large room where I can sort between the cloth owners. I can then sit and watch TV while I fold. I do not always get around to putting the kids clothes away, but I am right there to get my husband’s clothes put in there designated places, making his life a little easier.

Where is your folding spot, which keeps you on top of your folding game?
